Sharing our planet: Issues involving the global commons

1. Global warming/Climate Change

Global Warming is explained as the increase of the average temp

erature on Earth. As the Earth is getting hotter, disasters like hurricanes, droughts and floods are getting more.

2. Biodiversity and ecosystem

Simply put, biodiversity means the variety of living things. If the Earth's ecosystems are to remain healthy, they require many different kinds (species) of plants and animals. Every living organism has a role to play in our environment.

3. Fisheries depletion

Over fishing in the ocean.

4. Deforestation

Deforestation is defined as the destruction of forested land. It has proved to be a major problem all over world. However, the rates of destruction of forests a re particularly high in the tropics.

5. Water deficits

Water deficits is a term that refers to the status of the world’s water resources relative to human demand.

6. The Oceans - Maritime safety and pollution

Point sources of water pollution are stationary locations such as sewage treatment plants, factories and ships. Non-point sources are more diffuse and include agricultural runoff, mining activities and paved roads.

7. Poverty - Massive step-up in the fight against poverty

Poverty is about not having enough money to meet basic needs including food, clothing and shelter. However, poverty is more, much more than just not having enough money.

8. Conflict Resolution - Peacekeeping, conflict prevention, combating terrorism

The maintenance of international peace and security by the deployment of military forces in a particular area. The activity of ke eping the peace by military forces (especially when international military forces enforce a truce between hostile groups or nations).

9. Education - Education for all

Education is the process of learning knowled ge, information and skills during the course of life.

10. Diseases - Global infectious diseases

Infections are prevalent in developing countries, where co-infection is common. The adverse impact of infectious diseases is most severe among the poorest people, who have the fewest material, physical and financial resources to draw from and limited or no access to integrated health care, prevention tools and medications.

11. Digital Divide

The digital divide is most commonly defined as the gap between those individuals and communities that have, and do not have, access to the information technologies that are transforming our lives.

12. Natural Disaster prevention and

Hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, electrical storms. These are merely a few of the beautiful yet destructive natural disasters that plague our lives. People marvel at these incredible feats but, to many, how they function remains a mystery.

Blog #2 Investigation

Guided Research Questions for our Investigation:
A. How can we use the Internet (www) to communicate and problem-solve global issues and the environment that are impacting our world today to a wider audience? How can we make a difference?

We have been using the internet to save problems of global issues and environment, and we've been making a difference in it. Their are many charity websites that explains how their charity works and what they do, the website also talks about each 'zakah' and event. Websites help many issues in the world like animal shelters or charities and world hunger.

This helps people who don't have shelter or money or even animals by making people convinced by explaining charity. Also it's easier since support can be done online. And it makes the website more famous which will make many people help out.

If we care more in websites of this kind, the world will surely be in a better status, difference could me made.
